ARCHETYPES is a commercial fashion design project. Aspects such as theoretical research on the influence of clothing on personal identity and the homogenization of global fashion are discussed. A research process is carried out, which includes photographic analysis to identify archetypal patterns in urban clothing. From this, it serves as inspiration to generate a commercially viable collection, which combines creative design with functionality and practicality, placing a lot of emphasis on silhouettes and materials.

For this research, the importance of archetypal patterns in fashion is recognized, which often emerge through the repetition of clothing observed in public spaces.

Initially this study is divided into two parts. The first aims to explore the homogenization of both the consumption and production of clothing, raising the question of “equality” as a factor in global clothing.

This second part is structured as a counterpoint to the first part. Here we use a series of field studies through photographic analysis to examine national, regional and local responses to the global. The homogeneity that emerges has been enumerated, compiled and conglomerated, analyzing broadly, and in a general sense, the ways in which individuals interact and relate to each other at the level of appearance.

To do this, by discreetly capturing photographs of people in the street, this study seeks to reveal underlying archetypal patterns that transcend individual preferences and reflect shared cultural, social and economic influences.

The final objective of this research goes beyond theoretical exploration. It seeks to generate a fashion collection inspired by the archetypes and groups observed. This collection aims to embody a refined aesthetic language, using superior materials, silhouettes and patterns to create garments that encapsulate the essence of researched fashion identities.

Delving into the explanation of various categorizations derived from the extensive collection of photographic samples. It is important to note that due to the large size of the data set, almost infinite groups could be formed.

However, for the sake of clarity and relevance, we will focus on the most representative and impactful categorizations. The emphasis here is on balancing breadth with practicality, allowing for thorough analysis without being overwhelmed by the vastness of potential subgroups.

In this stage, our meticulous methodology transforms into tangible designs, where each color, silhouette, fabric, and typology explored in our research comes to life. Precise details from photos, like the exact tone of a sweater or texture of pants, capture the essence of our collection, adding depth to each piece. Derived from careful research and analysis, our designs reflect a deep understanding of market trends, resulting in a complex yet cohesive collection.

For this project, it was crucial to achieve pieces that were genuine and authentic in appearance. From a student's perspective, this has been the most complex step of the entire project. I have developed knitwear pieces, and I want to emphasize that every detail of the garments has been carefully considered, with no decision being arbitrary. A lot of effort and time have been devoted to finding the right button among hundreds of samples, the zipper with the desired metal teeth or puller, and even creating up to 5 prototypes of the labels to achieve the optimal result.

Once again, the inspiration drawn from the energy and gestures of people on the street has been pivotal in visually capturing our clothing. Instead of focusing solely on the garments, we have aimed to capture the vitality and authenticity of movements and poses. Simple details like hands resting on the back or someone taking a step have become references for the fashion editorial.

While the primitive idea might have been to capture these photos in the urban environment itself, the goal was to achieve crisp and clear images. Therefore, a decision was made to utilize a red backdrop for the photoshoot, as this vibrant color provided a bold contrast that instantly drew attention to the garments.

To bring this project to fruition, we meticulously curated a comprehensive dossier that serves as a testament to our creative journey and the essence of our collection. This physical compilation not only documents every aspect of our garments and designs but also embodies our dedication to craftsmanship and attention to detail.

Inspired by the nostalgia of office archives, we sought to infuse our dossier with a sense of familiarity and everyday functionality, inviting viewers to engage with our work on a deeper level.
Our exploration led us to delve into the rich tapestry of vintage stationery, drawing inspiration from the tactile nature of folders, filing cabinets, and other archival materials.

By incorporating these elements into our presentation, we aimed to evoke a sense of nostalgia while simultaneously grounding our collection in the tangible world of everyday objects.

Each component of the dossier was thoughtfully designed to offer a cohesive and immersive experience, from the file box housing the main dossier to the carefully curated appendices and accompanying volumes.

Gray Archive Box: Inspired by museum archive boxes, this box serves as the main aesthetic foundation of the kit. Its function is to contain the other volumes and provide a cohesive and visually appealing presentation. Additionally, it features archive labeling using its own graphic language, facilitating the identification and organization of materials.

Yellow Handheld Tome: This volume contains the photographs captured on the street, which constitute the cornerstone of our project. Here, the images taken of people while they walked are exhibited, serving as the primary source of inspiration for our work. These photographs encapsulate the vitality and authenticity of people's gestures and movements in urban environments, informing and shaping our creative vision.

Green Sample Book: In this ring-bound sample book, the fabrics, decorations, and fittings used in our collection are individually presented. This sample book acts as a physical record that allows viewers to consult, visualize, and feel the materials that make up the realization of our project. From the textures of the fabrics to the details of the decorations, this volume offers a tactile experience that complements the visual and conceptual understanding of our collection.

Orange Folder: This volume contains samples from the knitting machine. Within this folder are all the contemplated yarns, materials, different types of wool, colors, etc. Additionally, it includes samples of stitches, pieces where textures and thicknesses have been tested, different gauges, brushed effects, and unbrushed effects.

Gray Folder: Serves as a comprehensive repository of fabric exploration, containing an extensive array of fabric swatches, samples, colors, and diverse materials utilized in flat weaving. Within this folder lie the foundational elements of the collection, showcasing the myriad options considered and experimented with during the creative process. From traditional fabrics to innovative textiles, each sample represents a potential avenue explored in the quest to realize the project's vision.

Moreover, this folder encompasses various textile experiments, including interventions on existing fabrics and the development of entirely new materials. These experiments not only contribute to the richness and diversity of the collection but also underscore the innovative spirit driving its creation.

Brown Archive: This volume houses the intellectual backbone of the project: the theoretical research. This component, characterized by its academic rigor, adheres to the standardized APA format, ensuring scholarly credibility. Spanning over 120 pages, this research delves deep into the theoretical underpinnings of the project, exploring concepts, themes, and historical contexts relevant to its conceptual framework. Through meticulous investigation and analysis, this research provides a robust theoretical foundation for the project, grounding its creative endeavors in scholarly discourse. Furthermore, the inclusion of references to other theoretical works adds depth and breadth to the research, enriching its academic contributions and situating the project within broader intellectual conversations.

Finally, the general file holder serves as the epicenter of the design process, encapsulating the entirety of the creative endeavor. Within its confines reside sketches, fashion illustrations, and an extended version of this web page.

Spanning over 300 pages, it meticulously delineates every design strategy and decision, providing a comprehensive insight into the evolution of the collection. This extensive design exercise not only culminates in the creation of the collection but also elucidates the rationale behind each creative choice.

Additionally, it delves into marketing strategies, legal considerations, and economic analyses, offering a holistic view of the project's development. Through the use of varied paper types, it adds visual interest and serves as the cornerstone of the entire project, embodying the culmination of creative vision and strategic planning.
